Lakeland Andover School gave my son the skills, encouragement, and guidance he needed to help him grow and learn. Staff members would stay after school to give him the additional help and tutoring on a regular basis which enabled him to make dramatic improvements. Behavioral problems that plagued him in the past where eliminated through their proactive and positive approach to discipline and counseling. What a great staff that gives 110% to the students!

In September 2010, I joined the teaching staff at Lakeland Andover School after a very long and rewarding career in public education. During my tenure, I taught all levels of English, Literature, and World History. Over three and one half decades I prepared traditional students to continue on their paths to higher education, to be effective communicators, to be aware of their national literary heritage, and master the skills of reading and writing. My rewards were many as I witnessed my students become self-sustaining adults. However, it was only after I began teaching at Lakeland Andover that I came to realize that not all students are traditional in nature and not all students follow traditional paths to self-sufficiency.

However, all students deserve and should be given the tools to achieve the same levels of success and self-reliance as their traditional counterparts. Here, without the burdens of large class sizes, restrictive discipline codes, and prohibitive content standards, I have been able to individually instruct students based on their academic, emotional, and behavioral needs without the confines of prohibitive academic boundaries. At Lakeland Andover students are allowed to proceed at their own pace while exploring a variety of avenues to health, academic success, and personal achievement free of the difficulties that they faced in traditional schools. The end result is a strengthening of their self-esteem, thus allowing them to grow and become contributing members of society.
